Puppy eating stones

I'm having trouble with my pup eating stones. I monitor him but he's just so quick with them. Can't chase him as he think I'm playing and the leave it command isn't working.

Would you suggest to muzzle him, spray bitter apple on the soil, any other suggestion please?

Re: Puppy eating stones

I would definitely muzzle him when outside - eating stones can become habitual and may require surgery to remove. So best to be safe than sorry.

Re: Puppy eating stones

We had this same issue with slate in our garden with our pup. I posted about it a few weeks ago. After a couple of weeks of going ah ah when ever he started sniffing something he shouldn't have and if he did pick it up before we noticed i took a treat to him and swapped it. My pockets were full sometimes! But now he is 16 weeks old and he rarely picks anything like that up only the odd stick which is not so bad!
