I have two dogs and a cat. The older dog (Kira) used to be utterly petrified, but now she's nearly 13 and she's going deaf, so it's not so bad (mixed blessings, eh?), but when close neighbours let them off she can still hear them. It's not just normal fear, it's total irrational terror, I think that's what these firework people don't get... they think dogs are just a wee bit frightened, when it's so much more than that.
Even my other dog and wee cat who normally don;t worry too much are upset tonight. And what about wildlife?
I agree with the sentiment about not wanting to be a kill joy, but I'm bl00dy glad it's p1ssing down tonight .

Yes, the poor wildlife that don't have radios or tv's to drown out the sound a bit - it really makes me sooooo angry. Don't get me wrong I do like fireworks but for 1 night only they should be let off. The ones near me have been so load tonight it sounded like there there were bombs going off. I think the bigger more loader ones should only be used for organised firework shows & people can only buy small ones over the counter. On my mum's estate tonight she says it has been really horendous - she says that she has heard loads of dogs barking & her dog Barney just wouldn't eat his food he was that scared. I have also been to check on my animals in the garage one of which has just had babies - luckily & hopefully mum & babies seem to be ok (still got the radio on for them). Am reeeally sorry to rant & go on but it gets on my nerves I hate to see animals upset xx
