Patterdale terrier

Hi i have a 8 month old patterdale terrier bitch she keeps giving of a fish smell and some tims a metal smell
has any one any idea why and what is causing ths

Is she doing anything else like seeming to be bothered by her back end like scooting and rubbing her bottom on the floor, or trying to bite or nibble around her tail? If she is doing anything like this as well as the fishy smell it could be her anal glands are full and cant empty. Dogs anal glands should empty naturally when defeacating but sometimes they dont and become blocked. sometimes you also get whats described as a fishy smell when they are blocked too. Particularly if she is doing the other things, I would say likely anal glands, in which case you would need to get the vet to express them. Although some groomers tend to be able to do it too.

she could have a infection in her lady bits definately worth getting her checked out
