Tell them! Be firm and give them hell if they disrupt what you want her to do. I'd be furious if people were encouraging my dog to misbehave!

Re: just need a rant!!visitors undo all my good work!
It annoys me too, it annoys me even more when other dog owners out on walks allow Yuri to jump up at them which is why I do not let Yuri off lead if there are lots of people about as he'll run streight up to them and say 'HI CAN I KISS YOU? YES? AWESOME' *lick face* I wish people wouldn't incourage it because Yuri is loopy, he's a very high energy dog that needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation (more than my sibes do) and them incouraging him to jump up makes it worse...
Mind you he at least only does it when they incourage him now.. |

Re: just need a rant!!visitors undo all my good work!
I know what you mean
Now Charlie is fully grown he still has the first jump up at people at the front door. When he was a puppy I had him on a lead, treats, trying to teach him to sit and wait but visitors just blatantly ignored me and greeted him before we were ready. So in all honesty I gave up. After the first excited paws on their belly whilst he gets a rub, he runs off to get a toy to show them ![]() But not so long ago my mother in law got a big scratch on her front from Charlie's greet as she bent down. And she looked and acted so offended, saying she couldn't believe it. Now Charlie didn't scratch her on purpose, it was part of the greet - an accident. Well, I responded quite rudely saying if she (and others) had obeyed my training rules when he was a puppy he wouldn't have done it. So I basically told her it was her fault, not the dogs. Don't know if she was more offended by me or the scratch but I don't care ![]() If close family can't obey the training rules, then they too have to deal with the consequences. And that will include not being able to have a quiet cuddle of baby as Lexie will be so used to them fussing her. |
