Chow chow

oh my oh my oh my

i drove to my boyfriend's house and on the way I saw the most beautiful chow chow dog just sitting looking very very nervous outside of a gate. . .I thought maybe it was off the lead and the owner was close behind as there were some people walking in that direction and it's a really quiet area. . .

as I got closer to my boyfriend's I couldn't stop thinking about the gorgeous chow chow and worried that it would go on the road
so when I got here I made him come back with me! So we drove back to where it was and the gorgeous girl was still sitting there!!!
I went to open my car door and she tilted her head looking like she wanted to be excited but was really nervous. . .so we slowly approached and realised there were other dogs. . .some more chow chows and some bull dogs in the garden behind the gate where she was sitting so we went in to knock on the door and ask if it was their dog. . .before trying to see if the girl had a collar on because she looked so nervous we didn't want to scare her and make her bolt. . .

anyway the lady came out to have a look and she was so surprised she was outside the gate. . .you wouldn't have been able to see her from the windows because of the large gate and with the weather being nice you would have no reason to call the dogs in until it was time to feed them (there were bowls of water dotted around)

her husband is fixing the fence in the garden apparently so that's how she must have got out

what a lovely well behaved dog though!!!!!!! absolutely gorgeous and just sat there waiting to be let back in!

My dog would have taken herself for a walk!!!!

she let her back into the garden and all of the dogs ran around us all excited and lovely awww they were all so cute

I think she was a breeder because she said the girl is in heat. . .and with her having other chow chows and then some bull dogs too it seems like she must be

i can't get over how gorgeous they all were though! assuming she is a breeder she is obviously a very good one because all of them looked stunning . . .you know like perfectly proportioned faces instead of the horrible squished looking things you sometimes see when they have been inbred and things to try and get the desired result. ..they were all perfect

I just worry that there were people walking in that direction when I first went past. . .and there were people walking past with dogs when we came back and a man jogging. . .so why did no one question this very very expensive and beautiful dog just sitting there alone? especially since from where they passed her they would have been able to see the other dogs and surely they would have thought "maybe that dog should be on the other side of that fence?" we were the only ones that alerted them to it

she could have been stolen if the wrong person had been driving through the village at that time!!!

and also. . .the owner said she was in heat (which is another reason why I'm thinking breeder because she would surely be spayed if not) so with the male chow chows in the garden with her she could have been pregnant! if someone had taken her they would have made thousands!!!!

Have to admit im quite shocked reading this post, An in heat female alone unwatched in a garden with other dogs - Sounds like a really responsible breeder

Thats dog is very lucky you turned back to check on her!

ChowChowmum is on a distinguished road
Re: Chow chow

I have to agree with Milliepoochie, the Chow shouldn't be given the opportunity to get outside their garden, especially when in season.

Given the opportunity to get out, mine would be off running and very much enjoying me chasing them no doubt!

from the looks of it though the other dogs were like older. . .there was a young male chow chow. . and older one and another one that I'm unsure of the age. . .and then the bull dogs were quite old looking and I think they were females

so I think she was breeding the female who was outside and the young male chow chow but sort of letting them do it naturally . . .

but that might just be wishful thinking haha

but yes I couldn't believe she was just sitting there outside the gate!
I would be absolutely fuming if my OH was fixing the fence and somehow allowed one of the animals out!!!! you'd have them shut away in some part of the garden or house where they couldn't get out surely :/

yeah it's a scary thought that one managed to get out
and to be honest the part of the garden that they were in didn't have a very high wall . . . and although the dogs themselves obviously didn't wish to run away (hence her sitting outside patiently) i'm sure another large dog would easily jump that wall if he wanted to get to the female in heat. ..

Re: Chow chow

actually thinking about it

I drive past there quite often and I've never seen the chow chows (I would notice because I absolutely love them. .) so I wonder if they were in that part of the garden BECAUSE he was fixing the fence and that little girl decided she would get out and have a wander

as we were leaving the lady looked like she was getting them to come into the house so I think she was concerned for them anyway

awww when we went inside their garden though to knock on the door the dogs were all so friendly and I was stroking them thinking "awww I've never stroked a bull dog or a chow chow before!" hahahaha how sad am I???

hahaha awwww my boyfriend calls chow chows lion bears

he was taking the mick out of me saying I obviously only wanted to go back to check on her because I wanted her and was hoping she had no owner hahaahahahaha

I couldn't understand why she didn't have a collar on but thinking about it it will be because of her beautiful coat. . .they wont have wanted to let a collar make it get all matted haha

Re: Chow chow

Ok, thick question: when breeding chows, do breeders like to breed the same colours together? And if you breed say a black and a gold (?), is black the dominant colour? Is one colour more desirable than the other?
