Re: dog names ??

Jakes racing name was Shakey Jakey, so we kept him as Jake. Dylan had his name when he came to us too.

Blue was called Kyte when we got him, but he's a lovely steel grey/blue colour... so we went with Blue!

Alfie - suited him when he was a little tiny puppy and suits him now he's a little old man

Harvey, no special reason, it just suited him!

Re: dog names ??

Dottie was originally called Dorothy but her 2nd owners nicked named her Dottie for short, when we got her she was all white with just solid black patches...then after a few months she became covered in dots! And her big trademark one on her nose!

And Charlie my sister just thought of the morning after we got him, she kept calling him Charlie and I said "Its not Charlie is Shadow! (his original name) but then we decided Charlie suited him more and it stuck!

Re: dog names ??

Tummel is named thusly because we both adore Perthshire(the county in which the river, loch, bridge and valley of that name are found, the area is especially gorgeous but very touristy) and it's somewhere we'd love to move to one day Also we were actually looking for a lab pup and liked the idea of going with Scottish places/words as a name).

Re: dog names ??

Nelson... recommended by "breeder" amongst a list of names. We all liked it.
Emma... previous owner had already changed her name from Pasha. Didn't think it was fair to change it again.
Daisy... As the american bulldog is a banned breed in some parts of germany we wanted a gentle, harmless name. We recently saw something about the Dukes of Hazard. Name just clicked.

Re: dog names ??

I haven't got a clue where Dixie's name come from, she was an impulse buy (oops, lol) and as I was carrying her from her ''breeders'' to my house the name Dixie just popped into my head.

Dave... was the last born of a litter of 9. After going through all the regular nicknames relating to colour or markings like ruby, smudge, patch etc got to the last one and could not think of any more. So I said ''Dave, that'll do'' and when we decided we were keeping him the name had well and truly stuck!

Millie already had that name well she used to be called Missy before her prev owners got her and then they tried to change it back. I love the name Millie for a dog though.

Xiva... not really sure tbh! I wanted something different, something that didn't sound like the other dogs' names. In the end it was between Diva and Xiva and both can be made from letters of Dave and Dixie, just decided I liked Xiva more (pronounced zeeva).

Re: dog names ??

All of mine except one ended up keeping the Names they came with as they were all rescues, the one that we were going to change Daisy, no one could agree on what to anyway, so Daisy she stayed.

Kobi our one purchased pup became Kobi, as our first dog was a Samoyed, Kobe was a famous early Samoyed Kennel Affix, and he had some Kobe dogs in his pedigree (He was a vets notice board/private rehoming so the owners passed on his pedigree) So my daughter chose it sort of in memory of Tzar our first dog, we just changed the spelling.

Re: dog names ??

Maya was a stray, the kennels named her Ice. I did not like it and knew I would change her name. The day before I went to go see her I had been watching eight below so when I saw her I thought, she reminds me of Maya. I still swear to this day her name previously was Maya because she responded to it instantly.
