Re: Saul REALLY needs a home

If you don't like Diablo's opinion, why reply all the time?

Takes two to have a debate/argument after all. Its not like she going to sit and reply to herself over and over again. Either accept her point of view, or ignore it. Childish bickering is just pathetic imo.

I hope this poor dog eventually finds a home.

As to the PTS issue, im in two minds. Sometimes i think some long term kennelled dogs would be better off being put down, afterall ,they wont know any different. But having euthanised perfectly healthy and homeable animals, its not a decision i'd like to make.

Its the reality of modern society though. Sometimes its better for the ones with little chance, to make room for those who will only be there a short while.

Diablo and Poisongirl: Why not agree to disagree?? The rescue center DOES not need this. They have lots of dogs they need to re-home, including mine. So I think maybe you's should just both back off a bit and think of the dogs!! (although I realise PG you are trying to do this).

i have the right to defend myself , especially when it`s put out on an open forum that maybe i should be put down and told to piss off , that`s a real grown up attitude to take with someone who has a challenging opinion but not one that`s necessarily wrong , just probably taboo

I'm totally against the PTS issue as I don't think you should put a healthy dog to sleep purely because they haven't found their forever home. As I am sure their forever home will come along eventually. However, I do understand your point of view, BUT Saul is not taking up much needed Kennel space they took my dog in just over 2 weeks ago and not once did they state they were full.

I also know they have got 15 dogs reserved so they do re-home dogs quite quickly normally as I know 1 or 2 have only been in there for a week.

Putting aside this individual dog, and this particular rescue centre for a moment; but for every rescue/pound kennel available at any one time, there is about 20-30 dogs that could fill it.

I doubt anyone actually wants to euthanise any healthy animals, but what is the alternative? Where are they to go? Who is going to finance their care?

The facts remains that there are more dogs than there are homes wanting them, and until that changes, then thousands upon thousands will be killed every year.

Maybe if people put in a little more thought, did a little more research, and were a little less selfish, then maybe we wouldnt have the crisis we do.

But lets face it, this i want, throw away, uncommitted society isnt going to change any time soon.

If this rescue has no space issues, and the dog isnt suffering on any medical or emotional level, then there is no justifiable reason to kill it of course.

Re: Saul REALLY needs a home

I understand that we do live in a throwaway society, but I also think maybe some rescues need to put my thought into who they re-home dogs to and not just re-home dogs that are suffering from kennel distress as I do know some rescues that don't always put much thought in to matching the right dog to the right family.

Well thats a whole different issue and a different thread.

I think this one has gone off on a big enough tangeant as it is.

One would always hope that a rescue is after the best and correct home for each dog, and arent palming off the problem ones on unsuspecting members of the public.

As with everything and every organisation in life, some are better than others.
