Turkey Drumstick ASAP

Hi guys, just at the supermarket. They have no turkey thigh mince that i normally give to Samson mixed in his kibble. So am wondering if a turkey drumstick on its own is safe for one meal. It's 700g. Help plssss

Yes, turkey drumsticks are fine.

Eeek, raw and kibble in the same meal - that's a no go!!

I only give him about 20-30g of raw turkey mince iin his kibble cos otherwise he wont touch the kibble lol.

He is used to chicken wings which he eats quickly. Will i need to hold the turkey drumstick? Its huuuuge

Re: Turkey Drumstick ASAP

If you are going to add mince to his kibble, then cook it. Obviously raw is best, but I really wouldn't be feeding ANY raw food in the same meal as kibble/cooked. Raw digests much faster than kibble and if you feed both at the same time the raw gets held up in the gut whilst the kibble digests which gives harmful bacteria a chance to breed. Obviously I know a few people do this, apparently with no problems, but it's a complete no go for me.

If he's a gulper, then yes, you'll need to hold the drumstick, but you'll probably find that due to the size, he'll have to lay down and chew it anyway, so probably won't be able to gulp anyway.

My springer pups, 14 months old, ate the whole thing. Supervise him, maybe do it tomorrow as it will take a while. I made mine eat outside. Pig trotters are also a good meal. (Morrisons do them for £1.12 for two)

Re: Turkey Drumstick ASAP

What does heeding? My lot are about 20kg so 600g is about right now they're grown. Their drumsticks weighed 650g each. They ate them all and they're smaller than your lad!
