Re: Turkey Drumstick ASAP

If he has an allergy to grain mite, wouldn't it make sense to take him off cereal containing kibble ASAP? - you can feed him all the raw you want, but as long as he's getting the Burns, which is very grain heavy at around 60% rice, he'll be reacting.

Fish4Dogs, Wainwrights salmon & potato, James Wellbeloved cereal free and Arden Grange sensitive are all grain free and would probably help a great deal. As would washing down his paws and belly with cool water after walks to remove the grass allergen he is allergenic too, but you probably already do that.

As for what you can get him from the supermarket to make up his raw portion - answer is anything really! Fish off the counter, steak, any kind of mince, any offal, any chicken - wings, fillets, mince, portions, small whole one or if you can pop into Pets at Home at all they have tripe mince. Don't forget you needn't stick rigidly to the required amount everyday - some days he could have a bigger allowance, but cut back a little the next day.
mumof6 and 5rivers79 like this.

Is Wainwrights a good brand? I do rub him down with a damp cloth after bringing him in from a walk. Wouldnt constantly washing his belly and paws twice a day be bad for his skin?

Also is the tripe from pets at home good quality? Dont wanna give him anything with preservatives etc in. Thanks

Re: Turkey Drumstick ASAP

Wainwrights is ok yes, but I think most of their food is grain based - there is only a couple that are cereal free, the salmon & potato one I mentioned and I think there is a turkey & vegetable one too, so be careful which one you pick up. You can also get James Wellbeloved cereal free in PAH (green, stripy foil bags) and they do their own take off of Fish4Dogs too which is grain free, called Fishmongers.

Yes, the Prize Choice tripe mince is fine. Not as good as the fresh stuff obviously, but it's got no added crap, grains, fillers or flavourings/preservatives.

By washing, I didn't mean bathing, I meant do as you appear to already be doing - wiping him down with a cloth and cool water, no shampoo or anything like that.
