Things you'd find in a park...

....People, Kids, Dogs, Balls, Sticks, Cyclists..... etc

ONE cyclist every morning seems to think dogs aren't supposed to be in parks!

This morning, I was walking Kaizer in a public park, where loads of other people walk their dogs. Staying on the path (cos it was raining) but throwing his ball on the grass and I heard a bell, so looked around and it was a cyclist, called Kaizer to me and made him sit while the guy went past. Next thing I know he's shouting abuse at me - "What a stupid f*cking place to throw a ball!!" ... you mean in a PARK...!!!!!! Normally I'm pretty polite but this guy has been pushing my buttons all week (he's done it several times) so I shouted back "It's a PUBLIC park you ***!" and he carried on his name calling, so I decided to tell him what I thought of him.

What gives him the right to tell me to get off the pathway?!?! He is also capable of going AROUND me!! He's aimed for my dog other times too

Anyone else have this problem or any solutions??
I'm thinking of telling him next time to come say it to my face if he has a problem rather than shouting it as he cycles past me... that or jabbing a stick in his wheels...

Silly question but are you allowed to cycle in the park? This guy appears to have a problem with rage - might be best to avoid him.

Re: Things you'd find in a park...

where i walk my dogs..the cyclists come flying along...i used to make sure we all got out the road but got sick of cyclists not saying thanks and zooming by and not slowing down...thinking that they own the WALK way...so now i just keep walking and dont move for them...so now they have to slow down...i then look suprised tell dogs to stand and say ...oh sorry to the cyclist...not all of them seem best pleased.

Re: Things you'd find in a park...

We had a similar problem yesterday we'd been playing football with our lad on the park up the road when two lasses came on who wanted to sit in the middle of the field and drink their cans of carling! One then shouted over to put that 'f****** dog on it's lead i don't want him running round, filthy, disgusting animals!' clearly Harvey didn't go back on his lead, and she was told a few choice words

Re: Things you'd find in a park...

It's so frustrating

I'm glad others have stood up to them.
This park has quite a lot of cyclists but most of them say thanks if we move out the way, just this guy has a problem. Once, we were busy picking up a dog doo-doo and got shouted out for 'standing in the middle of the path'... you mean the really wide path that you could cycle around me on?!

This morning's one happened at 6am... I'm sorry but the park is big enough for everyone at that time!!

I'm tried the not moving thing but that's when he aimed for my puppy (followed by A LOT of swearing... NO-ONE hurts my dog!!! )

Argghhhhh!

Re: Things you'd find in a park...

I was going to suggest taking a water gun and giving him a squirt next time, but it does sound as though he really has it in for you. You don't want it to go too far. Can you report him?

Re: Things you'd find in a park...

I don't generally have a problem with cyclists in my park but I do have awful problems with a jogger. In fact he is well known as psycho jogger. He violently swears at anyone with a dog off lead, particularly lone elderly ladies and tries to kick the dogs if they go anywhere near him. He is a nightmare. Once I was talking to a lady on the path and both our dogs were on the lead. He pushed between us and shoved her out of the way, nearly pushing her over. I believe she reported him to the Police. I just tend to keep out of his way and if I see him I immediately call Honey to me. Luckily he has not had a go at me personally.

If this cyclist is cycling on a bridleway or cycle path he is legally obliged to give way to the public and not try and run them or their dogs over or be abusive. If he is on a footpath then he is breaking the law. Some people think they own everything and no one else has any rights. If he does it again I would definitely think about finding out if he should be there or even reporting him for abusive behaviour. Hope tomorrows walk is more peaceful.
