Re: Fireworks :(

I had two Schnauzers and when they were puppies we walked them about when the fireworks were going off, never had a problem on the otherhand Bobby hates them he shivers and is really upset, I rub lavender oil on him and just cuddle him, and he finally settles down.

Re: Fireworks :(

Mine aren't to bad. They were fed early and went to bed in their crates.

I was expecting the pups to be frightened and maybe Freyja as I don't think she's heard fireworks before but no they are fine.

So who's barking

William the greyhound and he's not frightened he's lying in his crate and occasionally barks he's not frightened he just wants me to keep going to them. I know he's not frightened as if something frightens him he screams blue murder.

Oh and its the great daft lumps birthday tomorrow he'll be 5

Re: Fireworks :(

My Lily is sparked out on the sofa in the land of nod. My heinz 57 is sparko in her bed. Totally oblivious.

Mind you we had our own wee party and they were cool with that too.

Its not going well, he is running around with all the hair on his back sticking right on end, barking and whimpering. Now he is hiding behind the couch. The best thing you can do for Zach is just act completely normal as if the sound of fireworks is an everyday thing, I know it's not, but you know what I mean.

Also in moments when he is calm throw him a treat (that is if you don't mind him eating off the floor). And as marlynaveve suggested take his mind off it with a game.

Harley being a Gundog, sleeps right through, but I am taking him to a display on Saturday night, which will be his first, so I'll see how that goes.
