Would you complain

Hi i'll try to be as brief as i can .....
A few weeks ago i noticed that my neighbours dog had a big lump under his chin, so she rang the vets and made an appointment for the next but in the mean time it burst. So she rushed him to her vets (even though they had said they wouldn,t be able to see him that day) and they saw him. The vet diagnosed an abscess gave pain medication and was to take him back the next morning. We went she shaved his chin and said it was a tooth bite probably from play fighting -gave him ABs and to go back in a week.

Went back the following week - said more ABs for longer as this may take time due to being a bite.

After this course of ABs was finished thing looked good for Jack swelling had gone down.

A few days later she noticed the swelling was coming up again, so back to the vets more ABs (same type as before) for another 7 days.

At this point she wasn't very happy (£450.00 lighter - although that didn't matter - Jacks health was more important) so she changed vets. Went to the new one last night (new vets have requested Jacks notes 5 times and the old vets haven't even sent them!) and the vet said it needs more investigation bring him back today for anaesthetic and we will lance it and give it a good clean.

Neighbour has just rung vets now and they have found a grass seed!

Do you think he's just been unlucky ?
Is it normal to give same ABs for 3 times?
And would you make a complaint against the old vets?

Any advice is much appreciated x

Yep! My misty had several different AB's -the last lot were not available on a pet prescription so had to be brought (although prescribed by the vet a cambridge univertisty) on a human prescription - they cost a fortune! and to add insult to injury didn't work either!

Re: Would you complain

poor boy

I would be pretty unhappy with my vets if they failed to examine my dog properly to find the cause of his pain. Fair enough it could be missed once and given AB's but to return 3 more times and just be given the same I would not be happy about at all.

WhiteRabbit will become famous soon enough
Re: Would you complain

I'd complain and get her money back. Once is fine, not three times.
