How am i doing wrong??

I noticed a few posters flying around about a lost dog. There was a picture and the discription was VERY specific. They are posted all over, and was in the paper. So the dog was obv very well loved and wanted.

I went to my mums a few day's ago and her neighbour has a new dog, she was running around the street wild and she attacked my mums cat. I went out and played hell with him for not having his dog under control. What annoyed me the most was he was in his house, not even watching the dog.
Luckily suzie was ok, and used me as a shield.

And it dawned on me as i was shouting that his dog looked remarkably like the dog on the poster. He claimed she was named Lucy, but she never answered to it. The dog on the poster was named Bongo, i casually said the name which i get would have sounded like i was mental. But anyway, she answered to it and came to me. I rang the number on the poster and told them about the dog. They came down and immediatly recognised her. They took the dog home and thanked me. He Put no argeument up at all.

Now i'm being made out to be the bad guy! His wife is saying i am cruel and a few neighbours have said i should have minded my own business. But i fail to see how i was in the wrong.

Well done you!

Because of you, that dog is back with its family. Shame on all those who are trying to make you feel bad, you did the right thing and thanks to you, that lil dog will sleep well in his parents arms tonight.

Well done!

Sounds like you did exactly the right thing to me. If it was my dog that had got 'lost' I would have been VERY grateful for a person like you!

Well done! As you say the dog was obviously much loved so you have done a remarkable thing reuniting her with her loving family! ...if you would of left her with this irresponsible moron that had no control over her then you'd be in the wrong but you didn't so well done you!

Re: How am i doing wrong??

Did you actually tell the neighbours what happened, or did the other guy? They may not know both sides of the story and what actually did happen, so they could've thought that you were cruel because you took a man's dog away. I would say something to them, as in, tell them YOUR side of the story.

But good for you for recognizing that dog! That guy seemed to know that it was lost if he didn't put up a fight. Some people....

I did say that if it was his dog, surely he wouldnt have just let someone walk off with her. But its a small village and they listen to what they want.

Take a deep breath and don't second guess yourself. A family would know their dog from a million others You did the right thing.
