your bitches spay wound

Bella was spayed on wednesday and Im really impressed with her wound, It already looks neat and not swollen or sore looking. How did your girl look when she was spayed? Also does anyone elses dog have two joined nipples like Bella does, you can see them in the picture above the wound.

Re: your bitches spay wound

I was honestly amazed at Kenzie's spay. The vet that did it does internal stitches so right from the beginning it looked perfect, there was never any redness or swelling. Now, 11 days after her spay you can see a line if you look closely.

Photo shows her scar on the forth day (please excuse the baby grow )

Re: your bitches spay wound

Treacle only had internal sutures so there were none visible and none to remove. It was amazing, virtually nothing to see and no scar. I could not believe it, plus it did not bother her at all and she left it completely alone. Sorry I don't have a picture!

That looks amazing, really neat. I was expecting Bellas wound to swell up like Henricks did. It amazes me how resiliant dogs are, I certainly wouldnt have been wanting to run a field the next day like she wanted to.

Re: your bitches spay wound

Day after spay:

Day 11:

Day 17:

There were two layers of internal stitches and 5 external stitches.

Poppy doesn't have any joined nipples, just two nice neat rows of four. I've not seen that before.

P.S. Just realised how clean she looks in those pics, she's right mucky scruff at the moment .

Re: your bitches spay wound

Daisy was spayed on Thursday. Her wound looks like Kenzie's. I am very impressed with how neat and clean it is. So far we haven't had to put the collar on her as when she has licked and been told no she has stopped. That might change as it heals though and gets itchy.

Re: your bitches spay wound

This was Millie 6 days after (If I remember rightly!) she had internal stitches and had a bandage on for 2 days after. Her wound was so neat and tidy and healed so quickly, I was shocked with how much of her tummy was shaved though I honestly think it upset her more than the scar - she wouldnt sttop staring at her bare tummy!

Millie has 5 nipples on each side and all independent - never seen joint nipples before hehe although Millie has now rolled over so I cant see her tummy as I just counted her nipples i thibk she is embarressed!

Re: your bitches spay wound

I've not had Anya speyed yet, but my mate just had her springer done about 2 months ago at the vet I will use. The area shaved was no more than 4 inches by 4 inches and the wound was very small and neat. I'm a bit shocked at all these shaved bellies, although there's some very neat work there

Re: your bitches spay wound

Have to say I was amazed (and slightly appalled) at how much the vets had shaved off her tummy and inside legs. She went to the groomers the day before her op and I specifically asked the groomer to make sure she cleaned up the area around the op site so the vet wouldn't have to do any more, and she did exactly what I asked. I can't see why the vet had to do so much more.

Re: your bitches spay wound

That's strange, Kenzie really only had just enough shaved to do the incision. Certainly nothing off her legs, and she's quite hairy down there too
