YoshiLea is on a distinguished road
2 dogs or more..

Other than finances, what are the differences between having more than one pup/dog to having just the one? I'm not considering a second Just curious of course

Re: 2 dogs or more..

The differences in the beginning was all hard, Henrick was sulky because she was sharing his mummy and she was a total nightmare who hadnt had a moment of training since all her previous owners had got her. The differences now are virtually all positive, Henrick isnt constantly looking for canine company as he always has his friend to play with, he isnt ever lonely when we leave the house without him either. Obviously its more expensive and you need to make room for an extra bed etc but the pros far outweigh the cons in my opinion.

Re: 2 dogs or more..

It does cost more but as TDM says, the pros outweigh the cons & come winter time I really appreciate the extra furry bodies on the bed

Re: 2 dogs or more..

The cost, and the poo! are the only bad point of having 2

There an extra bad point when its more than 2.... and that is you only have 2 hands!

I love having more than one dog, and never had any hassle intro-ing another, whether it was a dog here on its hols or my new pup. But I guess that depends on the dog/s you already have and how they take to strange dogs. i had more hassle intro-ing the puppy than I did my friends bassets or the rotty x that came to stay.

Re: 2 dogs or more..

I havent had any downsides, yes it cost pretty much twice as much, except the 10% off i got when kennel cough vaccined two together, but otherwise for me it is directly double the cost.

Yes there is twice as much poo, and hair everywhere, but you have to clean anyway so the difference to me isnt a problem.

The joy i get out of seeing the two of them running around together is the best.

Re: 2 dogs or more..

Apart from all the other things that people have mentioned the only thing i would say is its hard work when you have a puppy and either another puppy or dog who acts like a puppy as they never stop. You are watching them all the time with toileting and my 2 are constantly play fighting with varying degrees of rowdiness! which comes with gentle noises to barking and growling. I don't know what has happened today though...either one of them is not feeling 100% or there has been a transformation in their behavior! This is probably the 6th time today they have both just fallen asleep...this has never and i mean never happened before without putting one or both in there cages for time out! I also just hoovered the whole of the ground floor and Lola didn't once bark at the hoover, she just stayed with Walter! I'm slightly disturbed! lol

Re: 2 dogs or more..

The down side for me is that two is not enough and now I'm onto the third.

Also I need a bigger settee

Surely there's enough room on your settee for all 3 if you sit on the floor

Re: 2 dogs or more..

I can't really fit more than one on my knee now the babies are all grown up: that's a definite issue!

I'd say training can be an issue, especially if they both respond to each other's name. One can lead the other astray or teach bad habits. Vet bills can be silly, even vaccinations.
