Re: Hip dysplasia symptoms

Thanks thats encouraging.

Well our girl is 4, she was hipscored a couple years back and the score was high. but until recently shes never shown signs of anything.
Since the score as i said we have kept her weight down, and tried our best to just keep her tip top and healthy. She has also had some fish oil supplements.

She has more recently started to 'waddle' more when she walks slowly
and then this morning she didnt want to get up, was shivering, refused food and water, very slow and careful on walking. I could tell she seemed in pain, vet said give her an hour or two and if no improvement bring her in, she stopped shivering, and has now managed to eat a cheese sandwich (i know...) and some of her dinner and had a drink. peeing and pooing normal.
She has perked up alot and is now sleeping again.
So im waiting to see how she is when she wakes up

Your description there is exactly the signs Bella showed when we had to take her to the vets & was diagnosed with HD. It was an awful sight.

After some pain relief & 2 days at the vets to diagnose HD she was fine. Just had to house rest her for a month & keep her on pain relief. We also now now what length of walk will push her to the limit.
