to take him or leave him?

that`s the dilemma i`m facing right now with syd.

tomorrow we`re fundraising for many tears, we`ve only done one collection since having syd and it didn`t go down so well with him. he seems to get really agitated when you`re standing around for more than a split second and starts barking which obviously doesn`t do well in attracting people to donate either. he is also an avid bird lover in that he loves them so much he barks/lunges/growls at them, he only wants to play but it can look quite intimidating i guess and i can only imagine it being stressful for him having to see them fly past for a couple of hours - on walks it isn`t as bad as he focuses on where he`s going but obviously it`s different on collections as i have to stay in one place.

i was thinking of trying him out again as tomorrow we`ll be at p@h so not as many birds as in the town centre plus we could always pop into the shop to get a distraction. that`s where my dilemma lies really - i can`t really buy syd a bone without buying one for jake but jake can be very grumpy if people go near him whilst he has a bone so that`s a huge no-no for doing a collection. would it really be fair to buy syd a bone and leave jake without? i`d like to see if he got better with collections but i don`t wanna put him in a stressful situation where we can`t leave if need be if that makes sense?

i do realise that i`m just waffling again and this was a simple should i take him or leave him at home question

awww that`s the thing see, he LOVES being fussed and gets all wriggly then almost takes off when people fuss him but it`s when he`s not being fussed and just standing around. i`m assuming it`s just boredom then the seaguls look like fun play toys when he sees them. i think i just feel bad as jake`s a natural so don`t like leaving one at home plus he came from the same rescue we`re collecting for so would be nice for them to see him.

i`m wondering if maybe i should get oh to take one and that way if he got stressed they could get a bone and go back to the car (he would bark in the car if it wasn`t moving too, he seems to hate being stationary). i think i`m just going over everything but i know what he`s like and deep down i know he`s the type of dog you can only take out on walks and will probably never like things like this. maybe i`ll just give him a good walk and leave him with a kong
