Re: Help!! Do I try get to the vets today or not??
Right well my vet says Aurizon is steroidal just like Canaural and Surolan all of which they regularly prescribe and another one I forget the name of.
I asked re another solution bar steroids and he said he's confident we could find one, but non steroidal medicines take longer to work seeing as steroids are an anti inflammatory. He said in his 12 years practicing he has never, ever seen side effects or an adverse reaction due to atopical steroids and thinks its the best way to go for Roo, particularly as he feels its an allergic reaction its just very hard to shift.
I can see his point to be honest, even with Canaural Roo's ears have taken ages to clear up and generally speaking being an anti inflammatory the steroid seems to get rid of a lot of his pain quite quickly too. Vet also said realistically the only time you would expect to see effects is if he was needing steroids long term/daily as opposed to just applying creams every couple months which is hopefully all he'll need...
Under instruction now to put tiny bits of Fuciderm (steroid) gel on sore patches like that as soon as they appear twice a day for a day or two so as to avoid him needing a steroid injection and the like. On his body I'm more than happy to slap Dermacton on but I'm a bit dubious with his ears so will see how we get on.
