I ended up waiting 4 years for my first male rottie of my own. We knew we wanted an Import so therefore had to do lots of research before finding the right breeder with the type of Rottie we wanted. Then we had to save up lots as it aint cheap importing, lol! Then we had to wait for the right puppy out of the right litter, so when Blue did arrive it was sooooo exciting and I loves my big boy Booboo sooooo much - well worth the wait!

Urgh, I hate waiting.. Im in that position now wherre Ive promised myself i cant get my Daxie pup for another 2 years.. (I want one now!!)
Seeing as how my 3 only have a year between them i really do need to give myself a longer gap though..
I never really had to wait for my first dog even though it took 14 years to get him!! I just assumed with my working hours I couldnt have one, then I realiesed that I now only worked 2-3 mights a week and a dog was possible!

Yeah I always wanted a dog growing up but family didn't want one so made do with friends/neighbours dogs instead. I seriously started getting dog broody once i'd left home at 19, but reality was i was working full-time with frequent overtime & studying and still wanting to socialise in my free time so decided against it, for the next 7 years it was still not the right time.

As much as i wanted a dog i also didn't want to limit my own life options and concerned that i may end up needing to rehome my dog if i couldn't meet its needs or struggled to find a place to live as i was renting . I love my doggies they do control to a degree what i do and i can't be as spontaneous as i used to be which i think you appreciate most while young. I was working full-time when we adopted but live with OH and i could come home at lunchtime, wouldn't of worked with a puppy but suited my adult dogs ok

Sure it depends what your plans/dreams are and how much support your likely to get from family, i knew that i'd not be getting any dog sitting with mine.

I've got a while yet before I'm in a position to have a Shiba, the breed I've fallen in love with, about 5 years from now, in the meantime I'm doing research into the breed & getting my fix at Discover Dogs & Crufts
It's not too much hardship though, as I already have 3 gorgeous dogs, I can't imagine how awful it must be to not be in a position to have a dog for the foreseeable future
