I'm so upset Family who'd have them!!
For the last year my mums dog has had a nasty looking lump in his mouth and she didn't take him to the vets i offered so many time to take him and was always turned down and told to leave him ( see said that if i took him she would call the police) wished i'd phoned the rspca in stead
. Last week i went round after not seeing him for about 3 month and the lump had grown and was covering most of his bottom jaw, i told her he needed to be seen by a vet she said that she would book him in. Both me and my brother had to phone her and badger her to get him to the vets, On Tuesday he went and they said it looked like cancer, and . he needed a biopsy so yesterday he went in for this and they phoned my mum and said their was nothing they could do so mum had him pts on the table![]() I'm so angry with my mum and sister (who's 15) as their attitude is so wrong he should have seen the vets months ago and yes the poor dog was in pain they think because he was eating his wet mushed up food ok he was ok. He was only 9 and a little cross breed so could have lived much longer than this is they had caught it early. His jaw was so bad it crumbled away when the vets looked at him closer while he was under, he must have been in a lot of pain. My sister is blaming me for making mum take him to the vets and saying if we hadn't he would still be hear, Yes he would but in pain!! the vets could not do anything and it would have been cruel to keep him going. ![]() Sorry for the rant i just wished i did more ( i should have taken him myself) and sod the police) ![]() ![]() ![]()

Poor little dog - may he run pain free at the bridge now.
You were put in a terrible position, at least you know you tried your best for him. |

sometimes people do things, not out of malice or spite but fear, your mum perhaps knew what the outcome would be but just didnt want to face it, that doesnt make it right but if that is the case i can understand her thinking behind it, sometimes life is not as black and white as we would like it to be at least you did what you could and the little chap is at peace now.

You did nothing wrong OP, you eventually did win through. The police could not have done anything to you but it would have ruined your relationship with your mother - though maybe you dont have one if she could threaten you with the police. Poor little dog, pity the vets did not call in the RSPCA. |

Re: I'm so upset Family who'd have them!!
[QUOTE=Blitz;1061324451]that is what the majority of cruelty is about. Very few people set about to be deliberately cruel but the end result is just the same.
i agree with you 100% but i think to the owner of said dog it is not seen as cruel it is more an unhealthy overwhelming love, that is solely because a dog is no longer a dog in the eyes of the owner, they become their animal "child" without the same humanistic realities of right or wrong.my dog is given the respect he deserves, he is dog first and has his place within our family group, that i think makes a big difference. |
