I'm glad I have a small/big dog

I am glad I have a small dog because:
  • When she decides to jump on my tummy when I am laying on the sofa, it doesn't hurt too much!
  • I can pick her up for big cuddly cuddles!
  • I don't get many ignorant comments from other people about her
  • She is reasonably cheap to feed
  • Her poo's are small!!
  • She can fit on my lap just right :-)
  • She can use the cat flap to get outside!

Anyone want to add theirs?

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

I'm glad I have a big dog because:

* When she sits on my lap, it's like a nice warm fur blanket

* I feel safe with her in the house if OH is away

* I feel safe walking her at night

* People generally don't come up to her without asking

* She can go on long walks without getting tired too quickly

* She is great fun to play with - tug, fetch, etc

* She hardly ever barks - but if she does, you know about it

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

I'm glad I have small dogs because:

I can feed them both for less than most big dogs
They are easy to lift to put in and out of the car etc
Their paws are small so no big muddy paw prints everywhere
Even when they are covered in Mud it's not actually that much
They don't take up much room on the sofa
They are accepted in more places/by more people
They are easy to travel with
They can walk for miles and love to run and play
There crates are small so fit next to the telly without getting in the way
They are affectionate and both fit on my lap

(I'd still love a big dog though - no having to bend down to stroke them)

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

i'm glad i have a big dog because

- he's a bigger hot water bottle
- he can walk for hours and loves it
- he makes me laugh when he has to lie down to play the mouthing game with small dogs
- He makes me look well 'ard(joking but i do feel safer walking him at night/in dodgy places)
- i'm less likely to not see him and stand on him(although he lies behind me when i'm cooking )
- He's a good reason for buying big furniture in the future as he needs his spot too

Lol i like this thread...i actually really wanted a border terrier for my first dog then ended up with Tummel

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

I'm glad I have a big dog because:

I feel safer at night in the house by myself (hubby away a lot)
I feel safe walking in remote places or at night (unless there are any stiles )
I don't worry that I may tread / sit on him
People never try to pick him up for a cuddle
He is warm and scrumptious to snuggle on the sofa with
He doesn't bark for the sake of it
I don't have to bend down to stroke him

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

I would like a big dog too, for the security and for less chance of treading/tripping over! I am lucky that Sandy isn't a yappy small dog though and hardly ever barks :-)

a couple more

+Less hair to clean up!
+Less time to groom
+Oh will tolerate her more!
+Makes oh look like a big softy when he walks her!

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

I'm glad I have a big dog because-

I trip over small dogs when they get under my feet.
I feel safe no matter what time of day/night I take him a walk.
I can bring him with me to the front door when an unknown person knocks and feel safe even though he wouldn't harm a fly

I'm glad I have a medium dog because-

She is not too big and not too small!
She is just under medium height for agility which means she is able to jump way over the height of the jump heights!
She fits nicely between my feet in bed while keeping them warm!

Not sure what category Xiva comes into yet

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

Im glad i have a large dog because
*When she sits on you its funny {but hurts when she wiggles her bum}
*I dont have to bend down to stroke her
*I feel safer
*Im proud when people stare at Tia walking perfectly with me as im young
*She will dance with you
*I dont stand on her
*she plays on trampoline with me and jumps making me zoom into the sky
*She faces up to the Corgi that always comes into our back garden and tia scares it off
*Tia scares robbers away
*Its fun dressing her up in my tops
I personally dont like small dogs but i like medium-large dogs as they dont bark for the sake of it or run into your dogs face and bark {Im not saying every single small dog does this but just the ones i have met. i don't mean to have any offence on small dog owners}

Re: I'm glad I have a small/big dog

I think it is mostly toy breeds that are like that?? Correct me if I am wrong. I like Sandy because she looks and acts like a big dog but in a smaller body.
I am a big dog lover at heart but my oh isn't so a cav kind of fitted into both of our ideals.
