Hello all, how is everyone today?
For the past year, ive been planning on betting a Border collie pup. Ive been waiting for the right time, as last year i was in college (not fair on the pup or my mum to leave her at home) and i had a rubbish job where i only got about £15 a week But now, i have finished college, and have a good job where i am allowed to take the pup to work with me. I wont be getting the pup until the end of the year, or maybe even next year.
I am considering feeding raw, but i am completely new to this so i want to prepare myself so i know what to do etc.
I know there are lots of knowledgable people on here, would i be able to come here with any questions i have (and be the biggest pest you will ever come across)
Is anyone able to help me make a daily food chart of meals, and what to have in them?
Are there any websites i can use to get good tips and advice?
Aaaaannnndddd how old should the pup be when i start the raw diet? should i introduce slowly, if so, how?

sorry for all the questions, i want to prepare myself well in advance so i dont panic

I have 4 Border Collies that I feed raw. The oldest (13years) didn't have raw until he was about 2 years old. The next 2 girls (10 & 5.5years), I changed straight onto raw when they came home at 7 weeks old and the youngest (16 months) I bred, so I weaned her on raw. I mainly feed the packs of raw mince you can get for pets (chicken, lamb, beef, turkey, tripe), but also feed chicken wings, carcusses, lambs hearts, liver occassionally. They get 2/3 - 3/4 a pack a day, my dogs compete agility and flyball, so are fit active dogs, they are on the smaller side for Border Collies (18 - 19.5 " tall).

Where do you get this mince from? and where do you get your other meats from, or same place?


Is this per dog? (im not sure how big these packs are!)

Yep, ive been waiting for so long to get a BC so hopefully after the summer i can finally make it happen Im busy looking for training classes, ive already picked out collars, leads etc EEEEEEEE

Both mine have been raw fed since pups, pretty much since day one, so between 7 and 8 weeks of age, and as their breeder raw fed, they did get the occasional raw meal right from being weaned. I've also swapped over two oldies, over ten years of age onto raw, both lived longer than it was initially thought they would, and I do think the good fresh ingredients as well as the tlc helped.

Hopefully, but i would like to pay my mum back the money i owe her first. Then any money i earn can be spent on the pup Im so excited and ive still got months to wait!!

I feed all my pups on raw from the day they are weaned , Have you any breeders in mind were you are going for your pup ( dont worry am not pushing my self as am not planning another litter for a few more years yet) if you need any help or advice regard breeders just ask
