KC Registering Question

Are there specific requirements of registering a dog? As in colours/etc?

Our border terrier couldn't be registered apparently because she has 3 white paws or something. She was a litter of 6 and the only unregistered pup. At the end of the day, it's only a piece of paper anyway to us as we don't want to show her or breed her, but I didn't realise there were restrictions.

If that's the case, it must be a gamble with some litters incase they have some kind of "defect" colour/marking wise and become unable to be registered?

Just a bit confused over it! Google hasn't really clarified anything. As I say, it's not a big deal, just curious.

Re: KC Registering Question

My understanding is as long as both parents are KC reg the pups can be.
Colour shouldn't matter - although it would be a fault so the pup wouldn't be successful in the show ring.
Not sure why the breeder woldn't bother to reg just one out of a litter unless they wanted to save the 10/15 pound it costs.

Re: KC Registering Question

Hmm, I had a feeling she could have been registered. It's not the end of the world, just odd why she didn't register her... Nevermind!

We love her to bits and she is a brill family pet, that's all that matters, hey.
