Labrador puppy eats her food very fast

My 3 months old Labrador eats her food very fast. I don't think she chews it, I think she just swallows it. Is there anything I can do to slow her eating down? Any advice would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my Labrador, particularly when she was a puppy. Instead of using a bowl, I feed her from a large ceramic roaster (like a lasagne dish) and spread the food really thinly. She still eats fast but it has slowed her down

You can also get special bowls that don't allow dogs to eat too fast. I think they are called brake fast bowls!

If you want a fantastic quality bowl to last a lifetime I'd got for a Fish4Dogs greedy gulper

Greedy Gulper Bowl - Fish4Dogs Online Shop

Surprisingly heavy duty and with the posts positioned how they are they don't make 'corners' for the dog to wedge food in like some of the cheaper ones do.

Does she have dry food?
If so put it in a food dispensing toy such as a kong wobbler or a treat ball.
It'll slow her down and exercise her brain

ALso as she is young try putting your hand in her bowl and get her to eat round your hand! Sounds bizarre but it does slow them down and also helps with any potential future food aggression issues!

Sorry can't say I agree with the last bit

On the food aggression grounds I prefer the old my hand is near your bowl oooh out pops a handful of food kind of thing as opposed to my hand is an obstacle blocking your view.

Not trying to be arsey I promise, but so many people whip bowls out from under a pup's nose (I did with Rupert til I learned better!) and I'm very much a my hand = good things happen as opposed to my hand makes dinner time harder for you kind of person now.

Different strokes for different folks and all that, but thought I'd post anyway Plus sticking your hand in would be well icky with wet food or raw ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
