Pet Plan is probably the most expensive cover on the market. OTOH it's also the most comprehensive, will pay your vet directly (if you and you vet agree) and very seldom do they have a problem paying out.

The Kennel Club (that's Agria in disguise) OTOH
  1. Treated claims by my vet and a specialist, for the same problem, as unrelated and charged an excess on each visit.
  2. When the dog died took all the remaining monthly payments for the year and deducted them from the payout.
  3. Tried repeatedly to wriggle out of the claim
  4. Have featured in the Sunday Times and on BBC Watchdog because of the appalling way they treat their clients
  5. Are the reason I set up my website which investigates Pet Insurance companies and only features those known to be ethical.

There are cheaper insurance companies than Pet Plan. Good ones include John Lewis, Marks and Spencer and VetsMediCover, all of which will provide fairly high cover but none provide the same level as Pet Plan. You get what you pay for.
