Re: Comments on your walk today.

Our route to the canal/fields, we have to go down a little lane that is only really one dog wide so i always pull jessie to the side and make her sit while the other person passes (shes not too confident with other dogs so its better for me to go in than them) it makes my day when people say thankyou rather than just ignoring you... which i know is a bit sad but dog walkers round here dont make conversation with eachother or let the dogs play

Re: Comments on your walk today.

The only comment I've received about mine today was [as the 2 dogs raced around the field together] "By, they're lively, aren't they?!" Actually I thought it was a more sedate walk myself, lol. (And no, I wasn't being sarky, either).

Re: Comments on your walk today.

Our walk this morning was quite as usual.

Not on a walk but, we went out shopping in the car and took Dillon with us. I was standing outside Sainsbury's with Dillon,it must be the school holidays but Dillon got that much fuss and had that many people round him making a fuss of him, one little girl who was smaller than him draped her arms round him and gave him a big kiss and he loved every minute and he was so gentle. He even rolled over on his back (showing all his bits ) so he could have his tummy tickled.

Lady saying how much she loves chinese cresteds and how handsome Percy is

Someone threatened to give their dog a silly haircut like Percy's

Don't let your dog near ours - In fairness Rocky had gone closer than he usually would (about 10 ft) and they were just showing concern

Someone did tell their dog Percy isnt a rat, when he was doing good impression of a flying squirrel through the grass

The other two do pale a bit in comparison to dear Percy the poser

Re: Comments on your walk today.

Had a lovely walk in the sunshine, met two bouncy labs, Zak wanted to say hello but was on lead and we didn't want any nonsense, so walked past. He did have a good bark at a scary man on a motorbike behind us at the lights!

All three came back and Brig walked behind as we went back to the car park (cos trailing behind and sniffing EVERY tree is ok, cos he's not in front, see? ) Bear walked to heel all the way back with no pulling: faint!

Re: Comments on your walk today.

I had a great day yesterday(back on the farm today so nobody around to comment )

I had a chat with the owner of an Irish Wolfhound, she said next time we meet the 2 dogs can have a play(she did say hers was rough and i told her Tummel loves to wrestle with great danes ) but hers has no recall and the little playing field she usually uses is a car park for the arts festival right now

Then a lovely old man told me my dog was brilliant (very chuffed as he didn't have a dog and Tummel never jumped on him)

Then my dad told me i was doing a great job with Tummel(he took Tummel out on his lead for a quick walk twice yesterday and was very impressed as he doesn't pull) and to keep up the good work!

Then we met a lovely labradoodle and his owners who would have had a play but we were all trying to do training(i'm trying to train Tummel to ignore people who don't have dogs so took him to ruby bay which was very busy...he met 4 dogs, one growled at Tummel but he blanked that dog) and the labradoodles owners said they hoped to get their dog as calm as Tummel when offlead(we had a wee chat about what training we had all done) and to get their dog to ignore cows(we walked right past a field of them and Tummel didn't care...the benefits of living on a farm!!!)

And finally....i heard a wee boy tell his mum he wanted a dog like Tummel as he looked really cool and had a funny tail(his exact words)

So i had a good day yesterday

Re: Comments on your walk today.

Yesterdays walk was lovely we met a lovely little staff. His owner did reel him in on his extendy lead which was a bit funny. Not fun as people are now getting fined if their dogs are off lead on the prom and Marina.

But we did see a diddy toy poodle that was carried to the grass area went toilet then carried back inside. Which made me a bit sad the guy didn't want to talk so maybe she was just old and didn't want much of a walk.

Then on the way home we set off the doggy chorus, setting off all the dogs on the way past, which did make us laugh even if it was a nervous laugh.

Re: Comments on your walk today.

Yesterday evening we got no comments
Walked past a lady with a happy beagle, but she was talking to her dog... while I was stood off the path with Sailor and Ace to allow her to walk past.

We also walked past two men and 4 dalmations, who were also talking to their dogs. Altho the one did say something like... "just what we need" and when I glanced back, my Daughter had allowed Ace to wonder into the little pack of Dalmations and one of the men had to walk round Ace and the lead that was straetched out across the path
I instantly told her to move out the way and all she could say was.. butAce wanted to say hello and everyone was very friendly (yes, except the man who nearly tripped over Ace !)

First we passed a pack of 5 that Heidi didnt even bark at. I think coz it was 2 ESS and 3 Cockers so all she saw was 5 dogs with their noses to the ground, wagging tails totally ignoring her. As both packs were happily enjoying the park and didnt want to met we passed within 6ft of each other with 8 off lead dogs calmly and nicely.
Then we met a very elderly stiff legged Lab (who whined to herself as she said hello, awwww!!). As she was so slow she didnt scare my dogs and I was able to call Hannah back before she got grumpy.
Then we came upon a young lab and a Rottie who were also off lead but walking so nicely together they looked like they had an invisible lead on. We all passed each other on the path and Adam and the Lab went back to say hello, again Hannah went up and looked abit grumpy but i was able to call her away before she scared herself and got grumpy.

Finally I heard someone shouting in the distance and an enormous black Staffie came zooming up to us. Heidi got out of the way sharpish, Adam said hello and Hannah was said hello to!!....at which point she growled at him and air snapped his nose! (I let her off that one coz it was an appropriate response to his rude behaviour). He took it in Staffie style and pottered off quite happily, owners still shouting in the distance!!LOL

Isnt it great when you meet polite dogs on your walk??
Sounds like you met Sailor and heard me

I thought of you and Sailor too when I read that .

Today's walk was BRILLIANT .

It was very wet and cold meaning that the fair weather folk wouldn't be out, we walked for a while, threw Kilo's frisbee and he went for a swim. That was fun, then we met a really nice lady with two lovely dogs and walked along with her for 30 minutes chatting until the end of our walks whilst Kilo and her beautiful greyhound chased each other around. It was FANTASTIC .

Oh...the comments bit - she said Kilo was very handsome and she loved Ridgies .
