Pets helping you out

Just wondered if anyone had any funny experience with another pet helping you out with a pet

Lola this morning was in her harness and lead waiting to go out and i was putting shoes on and dropped her lead

Well having terrier in her she decided it would be fun to have a wall of death

Well im running round flat calling her trying to catch her

When out steps our 4yr old cat george and just puts his paw on end of lead and she stops and sits lol

Just wondered if anyone had a funny experience like that

Re: Pets helping you out

Lol poor Lola

Tummel puts his toys in his crate on command it's not something we taught him, he knows "go get it" and "bed" but one day my OH got him to get his ball and put it in his bed...now we can get him to put all his toys in his crate He also helps by grabbing dropped laundry and following me with it

Re: Pets helping you out

Sometimes when Floss comes back from a long walk she's very wound up and just won't settle, even with a Kong.

Declan, my ginger cat, will watch from the sofa for ages as everything i try fails to calm her and i'm getting desperate.

Then, after giving me a withering look that definately says ''you're hopeless, leave this to me'', he'll jump down, trot over very purposefully and stop directly in front of her, head high, shoulders forward, chest sort of puffed out and gives her 'The Look'.

Floss calms immediately and goes off to bed...

Declan returns to the sofa and, as he curls up again, i swear i can hear him saying ''see, that's how you do it''...

Re: Pets helping you out

My grandmother had a lot of dogs and cats. One dog always helped with calming them down, especially during feeding time.

It was also fun that he helped the cats and other dogs familiarize themselves, as he understood that those cats belong to us/ him, and are to be treated as friends. The cats loved to sleep on him, or on top of his doghouse.

Re: Pets helping you out

This is not dog related but very many years ago as a child I had 2 very large water turtles and a cat. I used to let the turtles run on the lawn in the back garden. One day one wandered off and I spent the whole day searching neighbours gardens for Herman to no avail. The next morning I was up early to go and search some more. Waiting at the back door was my cat with Herman (totally unharmed) pinned firmly under his paw.
