Dalmatians- can you KC reg a 'faulty colour'??

Just a lil debate on local pet site on FB

Can a dalmatian with say a full black ear, be KC reg.

Does anyone have any site I can post to say either way?

Personally I can't see why you shouldnt be able to KC reg them as you can KC reg a white GSD but not show it (other than companion shows etc) but I could be wrong.

Re: Dalmatians- can you CK reg a 'faulty colour'??

I take it you mean KC reg - and I assume you can register it even if it cant be shown. I am not sure how dalmatian colour is passed on so the only issue is do you want to register a pup that may then be bred from in the future and carry on the faulty colour. It might be irrelevant as it may be random. Why dont you phone up the KC and ask them before you register it.

Re: Dalmatians- can you CK reg a 'faulty colour'??

As far as I know as long as both parents and KC registered then the pups can be, the only other criteria that they cant be that I think has been fairly recently introduced is certain close matings, if the bitch is below or above a certain age and if she has had more then a set number of litters and if she has breed from too closely in time without a break inbetween.

Certainly colours/markings are frowned on as regards to showing and would likely be considered as a fault.
Spellweaver and Coffee like this.

Yep, this

Colours/markings/patches etc.... have nothing to do with whether puppies can be KC registered or not, it's all to do with both parents being KC registered themselves and the other criteria Sled dog hotel has stated above.

Except for blue merle chihuahas-can't be KC reg due to known health issues, I believe.
