I used to live in York, and if it wasn't for the fact that there was a huge public outcry years ago to ensure it was kept as free land which comes with grazing rights, the council would have sneakily nicked it to build yet more houses on. So, although it gets swampy, and has a few cows on for part of the year, you have to be glad it's still there
Also, just for historical interest, it was used as a golf course for many years, hence some of the bunker type features. Not sure how the golfers managed with cows on there ![]() |

Wow never knew that! Mind you im only 12 so i wouldn't i dont like taking tia to the park as theres to many kids and since its the holidays you cant let them off the lead not even in the woods! we just go to HM every morning walk around the whole of it which usually takes two hours then another one at four
