Change of coat colour and texture??

Grooming 8 month old Sorrel this morning and I noticed a patch of fur on her back (just below her shoulder blade) where the colour and texture has changed.

The rest of her coat is pale, blondish and is long and very soft but this patch, about the size of a 50p piece is reddish brown, short and coarse.

I could swear it wasn't there a few days ago - or maybe my eyesight is going.

We did spot treatment (Stronghold) for fleas a couple of days ago but not at this site and it seems unlikely that any change would be as quick.

It doesn't look like discolouration but I'm at a loss to know what it is.

Ideas anyone?

Re: Change of coat colour and texture??

There is a good chance it is a change of coat depending on the breed.

Willow our Old English Sheepdog is 2 now and up to now she has gone thro 3 changes of coat textile & colour on the grey part. I think she is now on her adult coat so won't change much more now.

Hopefully someone else will come along who can help you more.

Re: Change of coat colour and texture??

I think it is probably normal, Sandy has random patches where her coat is changing texture and colour and it has all completely changed she was a tiny puppy

Re: Change of coat colour and texture??

Alot of breeds have a coat change from puppy fluff to an adult coat. Also if she has been spayed it can have an effect on coat texture.
