Incontinence in young dogs!

Help! My 6 month old mini labradoodle has been toilet trained for ages now and doesn't have accidents in the house ever...however today as he was walking through the living room (not even heading for the back door...) he wet himself. He hadn't been hanging around the back door or anything, so had given no sign that he needed to go. Also about an hour before he had been out for a wee. Anyway, I just found another small puddle on the floor. I'm very worried, this is not like him Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks...

Re: Incontinence in young dogs!

He could have a Water Infection - probably worth a check up at the vets.
If it is they are easily cleared up - my little girl had one at about the same age, the only sign was she wet herself a couple of times.
grandad likes this.

Could well be a urinary tract infection, just like we can get, that usually leads to excessive peeing more frequently then normal and accidents as they lose their control and just go. Pop him too the vets usually only required a course of antibiotics. Try to get a urine sample to take if you can in a clean, ait tight, leak free container, that will help the vet too. Dont worry too much if you cant though.

Re: Incontinence in young dogs!

As above, quite likely a Urinary Tract Infection. My 11-month-old has had two. Her second one presented as just occasional accidents similar to what you described so it may have been going on for a little while before diagnosed as I thought they were just a puppy accidents. They clear up quickly with antibiotics
