Re: When should she start toileting after spay?
Quote:
If so the anesthetic and medications can impair bowel movement up to 72hrs. Peeing though she should be going in fact the vets dont usually discharge until they have peed, as peeing means the anesthetic and drugs are starting to be evacuated from the body. So drinking and peeing is good.

Re: When should she start toileting after spay?
YAY! a pee!!!
I was just about to post that Lily took a little while and then when she did finally go for about three days she kept squatting all the time and just doing little dribbles or nothing at all. The vet gave her some antibiotics just in case she had a UTI but he said it was probably just discomfort when she went to squat so was stopping herself and then trying again. But hopefully Kenzie wont have this problem but if she does then just to let you know that after 3 days Lily was 100% back to normal. |

Re: When should she start toileting after spay?
Sorrel worried us sick over the weeing - or lack of it. She didn't wee the day of her up and we struggledd to get her to do one the following day.
Think she was in pain and didn't want to walk so avoided moving as much a possible. When she did go her wees lasted ages - counted up to 24 on one particulalry long one. If we had left her in her bed I think she would have gone a full day without going out at all. It all sorted itself out after a few days, but we did go bavk to the vets for more painkillers four days after the op because she was so uncomfortable. It's a worrying time but give her a week or so and she will be back to normal |
