my dogs are so brilliant with kids

We do not have young kids visiting us but run a horse and carriage tourist business so have a lot of tourists here with young kids. The dogs are generally shut up out of the way unless families ask for them to come out but today I had two lots of friends with their daughters and grandchildren that were visiting them. Both dogs sat in the carriage with the children this morning. 4 year old child had an arm round Candy most of the time then put his fleece over her in case she was cold. Toffee sat with the toddler a lot of the time too.

then this afternoon they were out all afternoon with the second lot and had a great time. The toddler got a bit demanding at one time and was dragging Candy round by her collar so we put a lead on her and child led her round on the lead after that.

Both dogs lapped up the attention and were really brilliant. they neither have a bad bone in their bodies though obviously I was watching to see they were happy and the couple of times Candy looked fed up she and child were separated.

The second family have had very little dog experience and the children were quite nervous of all the animals to start with so it was lovely so see them blossoming and leading ponies around as well as managing the dogs so well.

Re: my dogs are so brilliant with kids

Sounds like a great day and lovley that your dogs were able to help a family be more confident around dogs.
