Re: How long do you walk your adult dogs a day?

McKenzie (11 month old Westie) now gets 45-60 minutes in the morning, and about 20 minutes in the afternoon.

Re: How long do you walk your adult dogs a day?

Ours get what they get on the time I have on that day

It depends where I go...if its the field behind my home then its 30minutes each walk approx 3 times a day of racing about like they had never been there before but if I meet other dog walkers it could be an hour while I yap

If I do moorland walking as I do in the winter most days then it can be 2hours of walking gently

Re: How long do you walk your adult dogs a day?

My samoyed, Heidi, has one hour, off lead, on the beach in a morning with my daughters two dogs. Then one hour in the late afternoon, off lead, at the country park with her friends. As there are only the two of us she spends the days with me whatever I am doing. This hot weather she likes to sleep a lot in the shade.

Re: How long do you walk your adult dogs a day?

What we do with our two (9 month old staff and 16 month old westie x JRT) depends on working patterns.

If we are both out in the morning, they get about 20 minutes in the morning (which is blasting round the field, lots of chasing the ball etc) and then another 45 minutes later on when the neighbours come in to take them out for us.

If OH is working lates, he takes them out for 45 minutes before he goes to work, and then I'll take them out for a quick play in the evening when I'm home from work.

At weekends I'll take them out somewhere special for a nice, long walk.

Re: How long do you walk your adult dogs a day?

Max gets about 20 mins of fetch/walking in the morning. then on days were at work my MIL takes him out for about 30 mins this can either be walks or to her house to play in the garden.
then he gets about 1hr if not more after work.

my OH could happily take him on a 10 mile walk if he gets home early enough.
i just about managed a 8 mile walk lol

Re: How long do you walk your adult dogs a day?

Dougie a golden retriever cross, he was 1 in June, my Dad takes him out 2 or 3 times a day each time at least an hour, majority of the time is off lead across the fields. So not much chance for me to take him out really without exhausting the poor thing! I usually restrict myself to 15 minutes or so playing ball across the field. Dad is 81 but has more stamina than my 24 year old son!

Re: How long do you walk your adult dogs a day?

We have Harvey (OES) and Bruno (Min Pin). Normally they would get between 45mins - 3 hours depending on day and where we go but at the moment we're only going out for short 5 - 20 minute walks because Harvey has dermatitis and his feet are sore. We can't take one without the other because they just won't go if the other isn't there.
