about rescue staffies

hello i am looking to get a staffordshire bull terrier but my problem is that the rescues/shelters i have visited or looked on the internet at they mention not good with cats/not to be rehomed with cats... does anyone know why this is or do they not let them go to cat owners? my friend had the same problem

when i have looked on the adverts for people looking 2 rehome their pets there has been lots that were bought up with or around cats but they are from owners who are giving their dog up n looking 2 rehome them their selves

you need to get yourself on the list of the rescue...when they have a staffi that is good with cats your will be put forward and after a home check , all being well.. you will have your dog

Re: about rescue staffies

Hiya, first of all... Calm. The huge majority of people here think it's the way dogs are handled and brought up rather than the breed itself.

Second of all, a few rescues test dogs if they don't know their background by bringing in a placid live-in cat in a basket to sit with the (cautionly) muzzled dog. It would be best if you could take the time to ask each rescue what they do to see why they would/wouldn't be good with cats.

Hope this helps.

im glad people do not just judge a breed here

i worked at the rspca so i know how they test them n 2 be fair its not a good way 2 test them with the other rescue i tried they didnt test them with cats as they didnt have cats at the rescue

i think because i have gone local i'm not getting no where but would a rescue consider me if i did not live in the area where the shelter was??
