It just get's better.........

with Craven and his off lead walking.
The other day I went on a circular forest walk with Craven on the longline and as we got back to the car park we met a lady with a playful dog just setting off,so I asked if I could walk with her with Craven off lead,so we set off and then we were met by her walking buddies with another 4 dogs,so there were 6 dogs and Craven was off lead all the way.
I didn't get any pictures as it was a bit wet to get the camera out.

Tonight we went on our usual walk along the river and back through the fields, but the usual fields where the footpath is has crops in,so I came back through the open fields which we have done twice before, but we have met another playful dog on both those times near the end of the walk, this was the first time he has done that walk all the way, offlead, and staying with me.

Is it this way.?

Look mum I have just walked all that way and I didn't run away

Have I been a good boy.?

What lovely photos of one of my favourite PF dogs . It's so good to hear how well he is doing; you must be really proud!

Craven is a cross between an English & a welsh Foxhound.

I got him as a rehome when he was a year old,it has taken 15 months to get to this stage.

But I knew it wouldn't be easy, and was told by a few people that he would never be offlead.

We may never get to the stage where I can take him anywhere and just let him off,but as long as I have somewhere, and it's on my doorstep, that I can let him off that's fine by me.

He has always been good when he has a dog to play with, the problem I have had is when it's just been me & him,he would just run off looking for a play pal.

But there is hope for everyone,if me & Craven can do it,anyone can.

Re: It just get's better.........

Glad to see that Craven is still doing well off lead. I am the same with Sonny - I do not think I will even be at the stage that I can take him somewhere new and let him staight of the lead but I am happy knowing there are a few walks here he can do off lead. I have the opposite problem with him though - if he sees a dog or person he knows he takes off and I am still gathering confidence in letting/keeping him off lead near other dogs etc. Dad is better than me at this though.
