Re: scottish newspaper

I always pick up after Tummel(apart from when he poo'd in a really deep rockpool ) so no worries there for me Also i'm not often in towns with him

It could be seen as being a bit extreme taking someones dog away because they didn't pick up after it but i like it...if you can't be a responsible dog owner you won't be allowed a dog Although i can see it being tricky to police efficiently

Re: scottish newspaper

I think it will just lead to a massive surge in dogs being PTS. There's enough of a rescue problem as it is without adding more to it for, frankly, spurious reasons. People don't pick up because they don't think they'll be caught and, at least where I am, the usual suspects who don't all have bullbreeds - what do you think will happen to them?

If they suddenly have money to enforce this then they would be better off enforcing a system of fines.

ETA: I had a search but can't find anything about this - do you have a link?

Re: scottish newspaper

I think seizing a dog is so OTT that it's almost funny, and as L/C says there's already too many dogs in kennels for genuine reasons, let alone for trivial reasons like this.

"Why is this dog in kennels?"
"He bit a kid on the hand so the owners couldn't keep him, we're rehabilitating him now before going up for adoption"
"What about this one?"
"She was being being abused by her previous owners , so we took her off them and are working on building her confidence before she can go back out to a new home"
"And this one?"
"Oh, he just did a poop on the pavement and his owner didn't pick it up. BAD DOG!"
""

I would imagine it's more a scare tactic than anything else, but given the amount of dog poo seen on pavements, surely tracking down and fining owners would be an even better money-spinner than speed cameras! The government would rake it in!!

Re: scottish newspaper

wow that is harsh! what if you have genuinely run out of poo bags?

I had to leave one the other day (it was in a secluded spot though) because i'd left my main roll of poo bags in a different bag and the emergency one I keep in my treat bag had blown away somewhere on the walk.

Like everyone else has said, surely it's better to just hand out a few fines!

Re: scottish newspaper

I pick up after Monty but just let them try to "seize" him off me ... ridiculous to make such threats

Re: scottish newspaper

But on a serious note, I always pick up after Baillie - it is annoying though to have to tread carefully because there are lots that don't pick up.

More annoying though is the people that go to the trouble of picking it up in a poo bag, but then leave the bag in the bushes or trees or side of the road rather than carrying it to a bin.
