If you read the linked stories you can see the lawyer says that the newfies didnt start it cos the lab leant forward and growled That sounds a great defence!

Newfies are gorgeous but they are dogs and a bad tempered one can inflict a heck of a lot of damage.

He might well have growled, labs are inclined to do that to mine, but if that is their defence they have no hope. If a dog growls at mine, they usually back off. As you say, a dog is a dog and that is what we sometimes forget.
