Thank you everyone who responded to my post last night.
Ruff woke in the night so put his paw in tepid salt water (he just stood there really good for about 10 mins! must have known it was helping) anyway, after this examined his paw again and found a soft grass seed just peeping out - had gone down the side of his nail. I removed it but he was still on 3 legs.

This morning about 4 he woke me up - stood on his back legs up to the bed poking me! He jumped up on the bed did a few circles then settled.

And, now hes fine!!!! yea - think he bin asleep and woke up and forgot!

As someone said he is a DRAMA QUEEN!!

Glad youhave found what seems to have been the culprit, luckily you found it before it went right in as they sometimes can. Its a relief when they aare back to normal.
