Re: Advice please ???????????

well, we got our pup at 6 weeks and he has slept in kitchen on a night since 7 weeks. Had no problems at all and works well for us. I think its good that they get used to being left from a young age.

yup you need to start getting her used to being on her own now so you don't have separation problems when she's older.

Give her a tasty kong and step out the room for 5mins, gradually building up the time only going back in to her when she's quiet. Have you got a crate? that'd be ideal to leave her in so she's safe and comfy and she can look upon it as a good place to go.

Re: Advice please ???????????

Hello, doolally, i have ordered a crate but she is sleeping by my bed in a large cat box which she likes i tried her in the kitchen she cried and wimpered for nearly two hours, i kept going in so she knew i was there, im happy to leave her to cry as long as i dont do any damage to her, perhaps i will do the just leave her for a short time and then go back ect, she is good at night, she woke me twice last nite and both times did a wee on puppy training pad, so im sure she is just missing her mummy,

Re: Advice please ???????????

we had a crate for our last dog but dont need one with this one. They can be really good, esp when training.

Id make a point of using the time when you go to toilet etc to leave the pup in another room. You know she cant get hurt and you will only be gone a few moments.

How long ahve you had her?

Re: Advice please ???????????

cat box is fine ...to start with don't even give her a chance to realise you're gone, give her something tasty get her interested in that then pop out the room, come back in before she's finished it and say hello and she'll just go 'oh you left me did you?', then gradually build it up. You want her to learn coping mechanisms for being on her own, and having a nice tasty chew can help with that, I always give my adult dog a biscuit as I go out then his coping mechanism is to just go and lie down. I don't see any problem with dogs sleeping in bedrooms and actually recommend it for baby pups, so just start to get her gradually used to being on her own each day

Re: Advice please ???????????

We have had her two days, she will be 8wks on monday, she is so good in the day she has our full attention, maybe too much, as its school holidays the my boys are in and out, when its back to school it will be a routine, im in hope by then she will be less clingy, im going to try leave her for 5mins at a time, and build it up longer, i feel like super nanny, however... it worked with my four kids, lol
