Zak update

I know this will mean nowt to most people, but Zak made my week last night by being (over) friendly with my guests, including the girl he snapped at. She was excellent, just gave him several treats, ignored him, then let him approach in his own time when he was comfortable. He then wanted attention from all three guests and was cute and cuddly like he is with us.

I'm utterly thrilled with this, particularly as we have two children staying next week. He has been training this week and has*changed from a whining, spinning loony to a calm, focused little dog who ignores other dogs passing. I cannot believe how quickly he has understood what to do. I know he's bright, but that's crazy!

I'm jumping up and down here.

Re: Zak update

Oh it does mean a lot to many I would think. I know how great it is to see an improvement even the slightest amount and am really chuffed for you.

I think we underestimate our dogs a lot of the time and don't give them the credit they deserve with their ability to learn. I wonder if we always have the right "knack" because trainers seem to be understood so much more than we are or if we just let them get away with things more so they learn to ignore us.

Glad Zak is improving and believe me I know just how great you feel right now. Don't be disheartened if he goes back a step though cos Flynn's done that to me many a time but gets back on track again, little rascals they are.
