Just had my ass chewed off on FB!

Feeling a bit down about it. All i did was post the following - getting passionate about breeding animals in the right circumstances and i'm not going to apologise. Just because your animal is "cute" and "gets on well with the kids" DOES NOT mean you should breed from it. There are FAR TO MANY ANIMALS IN SHELTERS to justify this. They are not a way to make extra money. *steps down off soapbox*

Someone i used to work with and am FB friends just laid into me about how i was rude and insulting and to "wind my neck in". She knew vets and dog wardens and therefore knew more than me, and i was wrong.

All i was trying to say was you shouldn't just have litters cos your animal is cute, not that everyone should get animals only from shelters.

Red face ah, well.

oh, piffle.

it's not that big a deal; she'll get over it, or she won't.
meantime, what U said is true: people SHOULD health-screen, breed ethically, have eye certificates
no more than 12-MO, radiograph joints, etc.

Re: Just had my ass chewed off on FB!

She just got so rude i deleted her, i dont need people like this -

Samantha -Having had x2 dogs from rescue centers for well over 10+ years - and now have a 3yr old child. I can tell you from experience I WOULD NOT re-house a shelter dog ANYWHERE NEAR my son. I now have a puppy that is "cute" and "gets on well with my 3yr old" and was bred for that purpose and I wouldn't have it any other way Emma.

Emma -My dog is from a rescue centre and is perfectly fine around children thank you, more so than some bred for dogs. Just because you have a dog does not mean you should just breed from it. They need the necessary health tests to ensure the dog won't suffer for starters. I make no apology for feeling this way Sam. There are plenty of cute puppies in rescue centres looking for homes.

Samantha- Weaver And I make no apology for having the choice to buy what I see fit without being attacked for it. My money, my choice. I think you need to wind your neck in a bit and keep some of your opinions to yourself. I have an ex who was a dog warden and works in a dog shelter, a best mate who is a vet and much more They know FACTS more than you dear with your jumped up little opinion!!!. . . I am also entitled to reject a puppy from a shelter Emma. Just cause you think you are doing your 'good samaritan' bit by getting your 1st rescure dog - doesnt make you f*cking perfect nor entitled to slate other peoples choices.

Emma - So you are entitled to your opinion but I'm not entitled to mine because i don't appear to know people according to you? Yes its your money do what you want with it. My point was aimed at someone who has just got a puppy who thinks when she is a year old she will be fun to have puppies with. Just because you now have a child doesn't mean you know better than everyone else and can be rude to them for not having the same opinion as you.

Samantha - Emma - I couldnt care less WHO your 'point' was aimed at. It applied to me. And I have taken offence. You seriously need to consider what you post on your status, this isnt the first time you have offended people really is it? Maybe if you had something 'constructive' to say to your 'someone who just got a puppy' then you could have emailed them directly? Clearly you have no consideration for others who may have seen your status?! You havent got kids and therefore dont have a clue about what it means to have them. I have have a kid and have had x2 rescue dogs. I know what its like in both hands. I have also been around dogs all my life and have ex's and friends who go into depth about dogs all the time during conversation with me. I also considered several things prior to purchasing my 'designed dog'. At the end of the day - if there is a marketplace - people will buy it. And not everyone wants a f*cking rescue dog! For many many reasons. So don't put people all in the same box and make out a rescue is the best option when actually it isnt always. Abd people have choices. Maybe when you have had your dog a few more years and have a kid, you will think back to this conversation and regret it.

Emma - Maybe you are seeing things that aren't really there? If people are offended, then so be it. I am offended by a lot of other people but don't feel the need to be verbally abusive and make out i know better just because i have popped out a sprog. I do support rescues and will continue to do so because i think its a shame that people don't look there first. But you think what you want, you obviously know better than me.

Samantha- Nice - a 'friend' on facebook that actually doesnt give a sh*t whether she offends you on her status - Er, not from where I stand. You maybe offended by alot of other people but Id like to think I consider my status and havent offended you on here! Im sure you would have got up on your soapbox and shouted about it if I had. I haven't popped out a sprog - such a pleasant thought - and goodluck to you with that one. I have given birth to my son. I have never said I know more than anyone just because I have a kid Emma, so go get over yourself. I just know what its like to have feelings for a child and to be concerned for their welfare. Ad tha IS something you hve yet to experience. FACT. At the end of the day - his safety is paramount and I make no apologies for getting a designer dog to ensure his safety. Ive done my bit with two rescues. I havent profesed to know more than you - so please refrain from putting words in my mouth. I simply have an opinion about the sh*t you have posted and think you need to wind your neck in with your opinions so as not to go round offending your 'fiend list'. But you clearly coundt give a crap about that - and thats where some of us have morals. End of.

Emma - Most of my 'friends' realise that we have freedom of speech on here and would happily discuss my comments without resorting to the sort of abuse you have thrown at me for having my opinion. I will make sure i no longer offend you.

I think she mis-understood what i was trying to say? not that everyone should have rescue dogs, but you need to think twice about breeding from your dog as rescues are full. Is it me or is she a bit rude? I did get defensive towards the end, i admit, but still. I really don't need people like that in my life!

Re: Just had my ass chewed off on FB!

People always find it incredibly rude when you disagree with them or point out something that makes them feel squirmy/inadequate/guilty. If you have facts, it's extra rude to them. However, they never think themselves rude when they disagree with you---they are merely expressing opinions. In short, most people are flaming hypocrites

And you are who on FB.. and I shall be along with all the threads for dogs who are in desperate need of a home and are waiting on death row due to the needless breeding of these cute dogs..

Oh darling, I'm in same situation their is a friend of family her son is breeding the dog because they like the dog or it is good temperament. These kind people are farmers they do not see dogs as campion of family

What you need to do is not say what you think and hopefully they will come to their senses, we all know what is going to happen, know about overpopulation dogs & cats in shelters

Theirs nothing we can do expect hope they make best of it come to their senses

Everything you said sweetie was correct, and how condesending was she over the "you haven't given birth yet". I can see why you were upset. People care more about their virtual Facebook statuses than the poor real animals that they are talking about.

I am also tempted to go onto FB now lol.

You hold your head up high! I have had a few similar discussions with my friends on FB. Water off a ducks back, you are right and she is wrong, simple really. A no brainer! A bit like Samantha!

Re: Just had my ass chewed off on FB!

From what you have said, her reply is really nothing to do with the points you were making is it? You were saying you shouldn't breed just because it's cute, she is saying she wouldn't have a rescue dog with a young child. I don't see the connection, though I haven't read all of the conversation.

I wouldn't have a rescue dog with children either, but that is just me and I know a lot of people manage fine.

Seems that someone has taken your remarks out of context and knowing a vet and a dog warden doesn't make you and expert on dogs, does it? I know lots of people from lots of professions, doesn't make me knowledgeable about them.

Sounds like she is better off deleted.
