The things dogs bring you.

I was out with Craven yesterday and we met 2 Springers that I hadn't seen for ages.
The younger one,Mac,is very friendly and loves a good play with Craven.

Anyway Mac was running towards me to greet us,but I thought it was strange as he was not going near Craven.

As Mac got nearer,I could see why.............

He had a rabbit in his mouth.

So I screamed like a girl to his owner that Mac had a rabbit.

His owner managed to get the rabbit off Mac,I think it was still alive,I had walked on as I didn't want Craven to find out that Mac had a rabbit.

Re: The things dogs bring you.

Whoops

Maya likes the myxy rabbits, they are easier to catch and then dumps them on public paths for everyone to see I'm so used to see dead bunnies now that I just have to sigh and try and remove it. More often than not no one sees but sometimes we get an earful from the normal animal lovers or praise from locals and such who know most of the rabbits are all infected with myxy and no one does anything about it.

Re: The things dogs bring you.

Mine retrieve Myxi ones, and the OH trains his dogs shooting rabbits, so I'm not averse to seeing them, or, if needs be putting them out of their misery.

Re: The things dogs bring you.

Florence brought me a vole once, sticking tail-end out of her mouth. She was so proud of herself but when I tried to get it off her she swallowed it. Whole. Dirty girl. No harm done though!

Re: The things dogs bring you.

My dog Flint waits patiently by the holes in the fence that the rabbits have dug, waiting for one to pop through into the garden, so he can pick them off and eat it as they appear!

We have tried blocking the holes, but they make new ones, and Flint does the same to the new holes too.

Oh yes, good point.......I'm sure in Watership Down they all had a masters degree in communication skills, and figured out human (and dog) hazards very quickly, but perhaps that was just a special few!
