Elderly woman convicted for failing to have dog put down

Grandmother Pauline Spoor convicted of animal cruelty made to wear electronic tag | Mail Online

Not sure what to make of this. One thing for sure, a lot of anger towards the good ol' RSPCA in the comments!

It's hard to tell what is true and what is not with the Daily Hate...but at face value that story is heartbreaking .

I'm from Tameside!

I think.. if it's all true (very doubtful) then yes she was causing uneccesary pain to an animal which should've been put down.

Of course, it won't be all true.

Re: Elderly woman convicted for failing to have dog put down

It's hard to say but does seem a little extreme to tag an old woman who i'd be surprised if she was even out that late sometimes people struggle to say goodbye, i've seen it many times

It's actually very easy with the DH; if the story paints any single person, or group, in a bad light then the story will have been wildly exaggerated to make that person or group seem even worse. If the story paints someone in a good light, you're probably reading the Telegraph

Re: Elderly woman convicted for failing to have dog put down

"Dexter, who had been suffering from fur loss, arthritis and conjunctivitis, was put to sleep by a vet the day after he was found."

Confused. Don't most elderley dogs suffer from the above?

Re: Elderly woman convicted for failing to have dog put down

i`m not even gonna read it, i`m sick of the daily fail right now - my daughter`s fairytale bedtime book has more truth in it than that paper does!! i feel we`ll never know the truth but i can`t see an elderly lady who has cared for her dog for so many years causing it unnecessary suffering intentionally!

Re: Elderly woman convicted for failing to have dog put down

She probably was guilty for un-necessary suffering but the tag is just ridiculous! A visit from the RSPCA and someone telling her the dog was suffering would have been enough in my eyes.

Poor lady

That's the RSPCA getting it wrong again, fancy take her to court. All they needed to do was to get her to sign Dexter over to them.

The RSPCA do my head in.
