Red face Best Dogs Walks and Why?

Hey everyone!

My names Charlie I'm new to pet forums and thought I'd start a thread asking everyone where they think is the best dog walks and why? One of my favourites is in east yorkshire where I live along an old railway track, its has hills and fresh water springs as well as some woodland! Its very pretty and knackers Dexter out every time we go!

Re: Best Dogs Walks and Why?

Woods with no one else there
Just me the dogs and endless forest.

I love walking on a cool crisp winters day through the New Forest - too many people in summer

There's one near me at a place called Ashridge. It has lots of lovely woods and the girls love it, especially Bella, as she is so busy exploring she forgets she wants to chase a ball!

Re: Best Dogs Walks and Why?

is there a good website where you can type in your post code and it comes up with good walks in that 20miles radius? i know lots of websites that do it for dog friendly pubs but think it would be great for when you fancy going somewhere new and not driving miles

Re: Best Dogs Walks and Why?

not really a walk as such but I LOVE Lytham st Annes beach near Blackpool, Lancashire.

It's a huge beach and plenty of room. I have a dog who can be aggressive, we can walk far enough out (it's a good 15 minute walk before you actually reach the sea!) to be able to have 'our own' section of the beach and let him off for hours without seeing anyone else. I just love it there

The walks around Pendle Hill (again in Lancashire) are also brilliant and along Barrowford Locks down the canal is also a beautiful walk - I go quite often with Tiger.

I don't tend to venture around many 'dog walking' routes because I know that there's likely to be a lot of off lead dogs and it's not the right environment for Tiger. it would just be chaos with off lead dogs approaching him all the time.

Re: Best Dogs Walks and Why?

I dont know if there is but that is an excellent idea

I love
Riverside Country Park
Capstone Country Park
both within 5 miles of me

Then
Jeskyns forestry commision which is featured in most of my recent photos

further afield I love
Bewl water reservoir
and
Challock Forest
both of which are apporx 40 miles away

For me I like somewhere that has free parking (cheapskate) dog friendly, not too geared up towards the 'occaisonal' walker.
Just a car park and some poo bins are all the facilities I need.

Re: Best Dogs Walks and Why?

what a great idea.though we do like our secret quiet spots where no one seems to go.everyone round here seem to stick to one area drve to car park and walk with others.i love it when its just me taz and wildlife.did this other day and was gone for 5 hrs.nearly reported as missing.but oh knows dog will take care of me.its good to socialise though,so long as dog owners dont panic when a crazy gsd joins in the fun
