My 7 month old Bichon

My Bichon Roxy still bites (playfully), Isnt toilet trained and actually will go and soil somewhere if she doesnt get her own way! and also barks at people.....dont know what I am doing wrong.
I have tried putting pads down and moving them towards the back door which works but then a week later, she is playing up and soiling everywhere but! any ideas?

Re: My 7 month old Bichon

Hi there,

We have a 13 week Bichon called Monty (pic below) and we are currently training him. Bichon's can be hard to toilet train, you just got to be consistent.

Monty will go toilet on newspaper and we are training him to go outside.

Look out for signs of sniffing and circling and then take him out, not always possible i know!

Darren

What do u mean with if she doesnt get her own way?
I wouldnt put any pads down at all as this might confuse her where she should go or not.
Just stick to taking her out as soon as she shows any signs of needing the toilet and praise alot with treats and attention.

Re: My 7 month old Bichon

House training can be a frustrating time and Bichons are known for being difficult in this area.
I actually don't think paper training (or pads) is always helpful as the dog is learning that its acceptable to toilet indoors.

Does she sleep in a dog crate or does she have a free run of the house?
crate training can be a useful method because most healthy dogs will not go to the toilet in there own bed. Therefore anytime you cant watch her or at night she stays in the crate. You then take her outdoors when you open the crate.

Many thanks to all your comments, I think I just need to keep trying and we will hopefully get there. I think I spoil her too much to be honest so going back to basics and not going to use those pads.
