Re: Akita Pup

are akitas usually violent dogs??? my neighbour has one he was out washing his car the other day the dog was on the path and I didnt see it I came out my door pulling my coat on the next thing I know its on top of me ripping my jacket apart and Im screaming well my dog is doing her best to get through the back door so this thing goes through my house to the inside of the back door to have ago from there by which time my neighbour is yelling at it from the front door it turns catches sight of my cat and high tails it upstairs after the cat who had done a bunk thankfully I saw red adrenalin took over and I hit the landing with the dog and bashed it with a trainer which gave the cat time to clear the bedroom door so I could close it the dog has destroyed my coat the back door net left claw marks in the bedroom and back door and the wood hall floor is this usual behaviour or did something upset the dog my neighbour took the dog and I havent seen him since should I list the damage for him????

Re: Akita Pup

Akitas are not violent dogs.. it is very rare that an Akita will attack a human.... they are very loyal to their owners but still should not attack!!!! Sounds like this dog spends alot of time in his house and back garden and has not been socialised properly. As with ANY breed if not properly socialised with people and other animals.. it is not the breed.. but more to the point the deed.
Akitas are not very good with same sex animals ie bitch/bitch or dog/dog... Akitas are a natuarlly hunting breed and therefore should not ever be let off a lead in a public place. If not ever raised around cats.. they are not good with cats. If rasied with cats they are fine with them.. but usually not the neighbours cat.
I think he IS responsible for the damage as well his dog should obviously be under control he should be on a lead at all times in public places!

Re: Akita Pup

I used to know a bloke who used to breed akita's may i add badly, he used to play rough with his n when they were bad he put them outside, he left his step daughter in a room with his big male and it killed her she was 4,
I would be careful that you go to a decent breeder who know's these dogs inside out like tigerKatz, they are brill dogs but in the wrong hands they are lethal
