Facebook pet pages......

There seems to be a big inrease on pet pages on FB. Pets for sale or free to a good home!!

I have seen loads of people give there pet free to what they thought was a good home only to find out that so called good home have sold the animal on to make a quick £50!! (dont know how people can do this)

I have also seen numerious of people selling there dogs/cats as they havent got the time/cant handle it or are pregnant & moving house!! ( I would never get rid of my pets because I was pregnant or a house move)

I just wondered if any of you have seen these pages on FB and think they are a good idea. Personally I think they should all be shut down.

I think they're awful
I'm a member of my local one, & I notice the same names cropping up again & again, wanting this & getting rid of that, its just nasty. I regularly post about pet related things such as why it's probably not a good idea to breed their animal, or if someone posts a wanted for an animal I try & give some advice. A few weeks ago someone wanted to get a rat & was looking for a glass tank to keep it in, I advised against keeping it in a tank & also that rats needs to be kept in a minimum of a same sex pair, preferably a trio or more. I was amazed at the number of random strangers who gave me abuse, including the original poster, because he received advice he didn't want to hear. I PMed him the NRFS website & hoped he would take on board what they say, but I don't hold much hope
Saying that, I saw Sammy (my new rabbit) free to a good home & have taken him on, but I had horrible visions of him being got & bred from as he was advertised as 'proven', so he's now with me & will be neutered & a companion found for him to bond with
I wish I could save them all, but I can't, so I'll just keep going on there & advising until someone sees sense & gets rid of these sites

Re: Facebook pet pages......

on our local one there are lot of people selling kittens like no tomorrow, staffs & staffie crosses, rotties, huskies etc

Some of the pups they are selling are only a 3-4months old & say they dont have the time for them.....WHY HAVE THEM

I saw a post yesterday - a man selling a 2yr old mae staffie free to good home. One man replied quiet a few times asking when he could have the staffie .....Only he was on another local page selling a staffie 2weeks ago so I told the owner selling the male staffie & he said thank you etc (I thought he would maybe keep him or put a price on him to ensure good home)

How naive was I....He reposted his Staffie on the same page still free so obviously didnt really care what happend to his dog

Simplysardonic - I have been on my local one & tried to give advise & I also got called an idiot & had abuse off users. One was a girl who had a Staffie X - 4months old & basically wrote it like this " Gotta go soon as, am pregnant n dont want it" I was appalled. I said to her she really should research the breed & Why has the dog got to go because you are pregnant?? She said its to hyper & shut up all day
Then I said Staffies are known for there madness but with time, effort & training can be a great dog but no she replied her bf will have to go on the dole to look after it & she didnt want it basically not giving a thought about the dog or her actions.

Im hoping the dog has now found a good loving home for life but I doubt it very much! I also post on there about not breeding staffies and to get them neutered as there are far to many in dogs home......again abuse

ive seen, i pour over them daily sometimes i just cannot believe my eyes, people taking in 'unwanted free animals' then selling them on, people who had a puppy one day, they lost some sleep that first nite so want rid next day, people who want to SWAP dogs.
