For what your say you've not received a Pedigree Certificate or Paperwork, were you given puppy food? I suggest getting to your nearest vets pretty soon, you should always do so after getting a puppy.

EDT: Sounds as though it's either been a mismate or some quick cash maybe... At least you have a gorgeous puppy, be happy with what he/she is =]

Re: What type of breed is my puppy?

To be honest, I would take the puppy back. And I'd save for a well bred puppy from an ethical breeder.

Re: What type of breed is my puppy?

The puppy coat will be different to the adult coat anyway. Also they are born with the ears flat and they stand up later, times vary from pup to pup and litter to litter too. Dont know that much about Akitas but they are spitz group like my breeds, One of mines ears were still down at 11 weeks, and she changed colour and coat texture. My other one is a totally different colour as an adult to what his puppy colouring was and his ears were fully up at 11 weeks. If you want to take a look at my profile album you can see how they changed especially my Malamute.
we love bsh's likes this.

I have alot of questions, first of all what kind of dog is it, look at the hair, eyes, nose and ears. Do you think it's an akita? The dad was probaly brown, i don't know. I also would like to know would it be a big dog, big chubby like a the average size of a full grown akita?

Please be honest. thank you.
Sorry, I couldn't tell you, I've no experience with this breed so I've no got a clue.

But my gosh, he is sooooo gorgeous.

Re: What type of breed is my puppy?

Just rang the owner he isn't picking up.
I'm going to give the puppy back if he even answers..

I'm just sad, i wanted a puppy, a pure breed. Damn wasted my money on something that i didn't want. The other person is right it could be a completely different dog such as rottie cross akita or staff cross akita damn my life sucks

Re: What type of breed is my puppy?

So if this decidedly dodgy sounding breeder doesn't take the pup back what are you going to do with him?
Your life may suck but I think this poor puppy's life sucks a whole lot more

Re: What type of breed is my puppy?

the photo is an akita no doubt but as said may not be your pups mum . Akita inu are relatively new and not that readily available i know one of the main breeders and would happily recommend them. Many akita breeders wrongly still sell their pups as japanese akitas a term no longer recognised, you really have to do your homework and put some effort into finding a good breeder not aimed at op but anyone thinking of getting a pup especially a dog like the akita they are a breed that need and deserve an owner who understands them and can offer all they need.
venus, simplysardonic and mamf like this.

Re: What type of breed is my puppy?

I hate to say it but if theses are the sort of breeders I think they are, you aren't going to be able to get hold of them again.... I know you are disappointed but look at the gorgeous puppy you have.. He may not be what you wanted but that doesn't mean he deserves to be sent away.
I really don't wanna be mean, I really do feel sorry for you for being in this situation. But the fault lies with you, not the puppy, well technically the fault lies with the breeders as they have lied to you but it's your job to check everything out before handing over money, you've not done that. Just don't blame the puppy

Re: What type of breed is my puppy?

I think he/she is asking what will YOU do if the breeder doesn't take it back?

Leave it on their doorstep?

At the end of the day it's as much your fault as it is theirs.

You wanted a pedigree you said, but you KNOWINGLY bought a pup without papers. You obviously didn't spend your time researching ethical breeders, so don't go blaming all this on the breeder, yes he lied, but you were unprepared and I hope you learn frrom this mistake.

The only one innnocent in all this is that puppy, and god knows what's going to happen to it now.
