Akita Inu's do not have the massive bone substance that the American types have.. hence they can look terribly thin when not in coat.
Akita Inus (KC reg and Recognised since January 2006) prior to were registered as the Japanese Akita/ Akita... obviously a totally different breed so we are very pleased at the split.
When in full coat and at thier best they can be beautiful in thier own right 
Akita Inu's are still relatively new to the uk... and are ever growing... here for anyone interested.

I agree, the orginal pic looks like its blown its coat, ya have to see and akita (which ever breed of) before and after they blow there coat to understand really how much difference it makes to there looks, when cassie first blew her coat we were shocked at how she looked, i knew it happened but didnt realise it did to that extent, i came on here for advice n found out it was totally normal.
I makes a huge difference to there looks and you dont realise how much till ya have seen the before n after lol
